International M.A. Program in Statistics
During the last decade there is a dramatic increase in the size and complexity of data collected by both Industry and the Academic community. The availability of such vast quantities of data is expected to affect almost all academic disciplines as well as workings of the general economy. The ability to analyze and draw meaningful conclusions from these data is becoming ever more important. The Department of Statistics at the University of Haifa offers an international master level program in Statistics in order to train its students as professionals in this domain. The program is designated for students from universities and colleges in Israel and from abroad who have a Bachelors (BA/BSc) degree in Statistics or a related field such as Mathematics, Computer Science. The one-year program is taught in English over 3 consecutive semesters.

A minimum average grade of 80 in undergraduate studies is required. Candidates, who are not native speakers of English or have not previously studied at an institution of higher education where the language of instruction is English, must submit official TOEFL scores or equivalent. The minimum TOEFL score required for admission is: 570 on the paper-based test, 230 on the computer-based test or 89 on the internet-based test.
Conditions for receiving an M.A. grade in Statistics
Completion of the full course work, 40 units, is required for completion of the program in the non-thesis track. The thesis track requires the completion of course work of 36 units.
Distribution of grade:
Non-thesis track: 80% - course work, 20% - final project
Thesis track: 50% - thesis study, 50% - course work
Duration of studies:
Non-thesis track – three semesters over 12 months.
Thesis track – five semesters over 24 months.
